About Koto
Koto is traditional Japanese musical instrument.
It's a kind of harp. It has 13 strings and 13 bridges.
They use different tunings for each pieces
by moving their bridges.
It is played with three picks which are called TSUME(which
means nail)
We often play the Koto with Shakuhachi(Japanese Bamboo flute)
and Shamisen(Japanese three-stringed banjo).
And bass koto is called Jushichi-gen which has 17strings.
Once It was originally played by blind musicians.
Now a lot of music is being composed using its diverse harmony.
